PREDOMINANT EMOTIONS & CENTERS OF INTELLIGENCE

Just as every personality leans on one Center more than the others, so every personality faces one predominant emotion more than any other. The three Predominant Emotions correspond to the three Centers of Intelligence:

Body Center – Anger (Types 8, 9, 1)

Heart Center – Shame (Types 2, 3, 4)

Head Center – Fear (Type 5, 6, 7)

To be clear, fear runs all of us, regardless of Type. That’s what the Basic Fear illuminates for each personality. However, the experience of fear gets refracted through these respective Predominant Emotions. For example, when the Heart Center Types experience their Basic Fear, it brings up Shame. When the Body Center Types experience their Basic Fear, it brings up Anger. But with the Fear Types, the fear is a direct experience of the emotion Fear itself.

And it’s not that the Head Center Types don’t experience Shame or that the Body Center Types don’t experience Fear. Just as we each have all nine energies of the Types within us, we each have all three Predominant Emotions we have to deal with regularly. The difference is that Shame Types don’t spend a single moment without Shame. Likewise, for the Anger and Fear Types. This sounds ludicrous, but if we trace our experience of life deeply, sure enough, we’ll find the well-spring of our particular Predominant Emotion present, always.

The gift we stand to gain through this knowledge is the freedom to act differently, instead of being habitually forced to act on the emotion. That’s a lifelong pursuit of self-awareness and self-regulation. But by understanding these emotions, where they come from, why they affect us, and seeing their specific hold on us personally, we can become so grounded and judicious in how we respond to them that we climb up the Levels of Consciousness toward being our best self.

We’ll look at these Predominant Emotions in terms of

1. what for each of the Types provokes these emotions (The Provocation)
2. how they experience the heat of the emotion itself
